Digital PC videogame platform GOG has announced that it is removing both Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft 2 from its storefront later this month, at Blizzard's request. GOG adds that is "saddened" to share this news, but will change the policy surrounding its new Preservation Program to ensure games no longer on sale on GOG will remain ed after a delisting. GOG's removal of both Warcraft games comes after Blizzard surprise dropped Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters on Battle.net earlier this year.
In a new statement from Monday December 2, GOG says it is delisting both Blizzard's surprise release of remasters of the classic Warcraft games as part of a new bundle in November.
The Warcraft delistings come right after GOG announced its new Preservation Program, which aims to make old PC games easily accessible and playable on modern hardware. GOG already sells a number of classic games, but this scheme gives old releases an official stamp that confirms they will remain compatible with your new hardware.

"Seeing these masterpieces leave our store is tough, but it also serves as another reminder of why our mission at GOG is so important," the storefront says of Warcraft 1 and 2. "With that in mind, we've decided to update one aspect of the GOG Preservation Program's policy.
"Going forward, even if a game is no longer available for sale on GOG, as part of the GOG Preservation Program, it will continue to be maintained and updated by us, ensuring it remains compatible with modern and future systems."
On top of that, anyone who has already purchased either game will "still enjoy the most compatible, high-quality versions, guaranteed by the GOG Preservation Program." GOG's commitment to making some games DRM-free also means you can make use of its offline installers and keep "lifetime access" to each game.
GOG has also applied a promotion for anyone who wants to buy these old-school versions of both Warcraft games before they're delisted. Using the code "MakeWarcraftLiveForever" at checkout brings the price down from $14.99 to $12.99. You can find the bundle right here. As of writing the original versions of both Warcraft games are still available on Battle.net, alongside the remasters.
